The stupid speak loudly and without fear. The intelligent are fearful and quiet, because they know there’s a chance they could be wrong. Stop consuming everyone else’s ideas and start broadcasting your own! What use is being right about so many things if you’re the only one it benefits?
If you don’t speak about controversial things, then you’re not speaking smarts to stupid. And if in fact you end up on the wrong side of a belief, you can learn the error of your ways and improve. The things that aren’t controversial, that everyone already agrees on, are the things that least need spoken about. The controversial things are where the progress is to be had.
Free speech works great as a right that government must protect, and it also works great as a privilege to be enjoyed in private forums, such as Twitter and YouTube.
Being offended is not a virtue. Can you imagine how offended certain cultures are that women can drive or go outside uncovered? Have courage and try to be un-offended by bad people. For if you become offended, surely they have won.

If you’re looking for controversial things to learn about, my politics look like this:
I like anti-aging research, more specialized education, ranked list voting, voting tests, doubling official salaries, no working for people you regulated, private voting in congress, less corporate money buying election, single payer healthcare, pro-choice, higher speed limits, gay people being unhappily married like everyone else :). Raising capital gains tax and lowering income tax.
None of this: Profiting off prisoners, TSA, torture, encryption back doors, or perpetual undeclared wars.
Slander is spoken, libel is written, oops.
